The Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, emphasized the importance of strengthening trade and investment cooperation between Jordan and the Czech Republic during a meeting with Czech Ambassador Andrea Kucírová at the Chamber’s headquarters.

The meeting brought together senior representatives from the Chamber and focused on ways to expand economic relations, enhance trade exchange, and encourage joint investments by opening broader communication channels between the business communities in both countries. Despite decades of economic ties supported by cooperation agreements, both sides acknowledged that current trade volumes remain below expectations, underscoring significant untapped potential.

Al-Haj Tawfiq highlighted promising opportunities in key sectors such as information technology, cybersecurity, tourism, agriculture, and logistics services. He stressed the importance of increasing mutual awareness of products and competitive advantages in both markets, noting that better access to information would help drive trade growth and support the development of sustainable economic partnerships.

He also called for stronger engagement from Czech companies in upcoming investment events in Jordan, particularly the Jordanian-European Investment Conference scheduled for later this year, describing it as an important platform for building direct partnerships with European counterparts. In addition, he emphasized the need to organize bilateral business meetings, sector-focused discussions, and the exchange of trade delegations to strengthen direct communication and cooperation.

For her part, Ambassador Kucírová reaffirmed the Czech Republic’s interest in deepening economic relations with Jordan, highlighting the strong political ties between the two countries and the importance of translating them into tangible economic cooperation. She pointed to Jordan’s safe and stable business environment as a key factor encouraging foreign investment.

The ambassador also stressed the importance of activating bilateral agreements, increasing the exchange of trade delegations, and organizing joint exhibitions to enhance collaboration. She noted that Czech companies are keen to explore investment opportunities in the Jordanian market and announced plans for participation in several upcoming economic events, including specialized exhibitions and conferences. She also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector and maintaining regular communication between stakeholders through virtual meetings.

Participants in the meeting emphasized the need to intensify coordination between relevant institutions in both countries, particularly in tourism, through regular online meetings to exchange information, promote destinations, and increase tourist flows.

They concluded by stressing the importance of turning challenges into real opportunities by effectively implementing existing agreements, expanding joint activities, and fostering direct engagement between business communities. These efforts, they noted, would help build long-term economic and investment partnerships across multiple sectors and contribute to sustainable economic growth in both countries.
